So as of last Monday, April 26, 2010, we are
now approved to adopt!
We are beyond excited!
HERE is the link to our online profile with our agency.
And HERE is a link to our Adoption Blog.
A lot of people have asked us "Now what?" I didn't realize how many people know so little about the process. So here is the scoop...
We now are on a waiting list and have an online profile. There are a few ways we could be "Chosen".
Birthmother's all across the United States can go to LDS Family Services website to find adoptive parents for their baby. They are able to put in certain criteria of what they want in a family and then it will bring up a list of profiles for her to look at. Then if they find what they want they will tell their caseworker who would then contact the adoptive couple's caseworker. And so it begins...
Also, our agency is constantly working with Birthmothers. They will usually show profiles of the adoptive couples they are working with also to them and they can choose from that. And so it begins...
Also, a surprising large amount of adoptions happen through word of mouth. This is called designated adoption (not sure why). Someone we would know, knows someone that is considering adoption for their baby. This is where you can help us (more on that later)!
Their are two options for us: we can WAIT or we can WAIT and FIND.
Since it is better to be proactive and leave no stone unturned we will be thinking of ways you can help us find our baby.
We know we have a baby waiting to come to our family, and we are very anxious to make sure that happens.
For now we ask you to pray for us to have patience and to be sensitive to the spirit, to pray for our future Birthmother that she may be comforted, lifted up and guided to us, and for our baby they he/she may be healthy and strong.
"My mom introduced the beautiful concept of adoption in a very simple manner. There is something that is called prayer trading, and we're going to trade prayers with somebody. Somewhere out there is a girl praying for a good family for her baby. We are going to pray for a good tummy with a baby in it, and we are going to answer each others' prayers.' "--Troy Dunn
