Memorial Day at the Lakehouse

We got to go to our favorite place for Memorial Day weekend. We were able to spend it with Hubs entire family. It was a great weekend and just way too short.

Oak finally got to go on the tube. She was so excited! I made Hubs go and watch her because it cause me a lot of anxiety.

This was grandma's new toy, a paddle board. I didn't try it out this time, but I plan to when we go for the 4th of July.

Because everyone was there, we took family pictures. I will post those as soon as I get them.

They were all rewarded with an otter pop for doing the family pics.

Because the house is so close to the lake, the kids are required to wear their life jacket if outside (except if they are on the deck). Oak was very proud she could get her buckled by herself.

swimming, carnival, broken dryer & a playdate...

I still need to get Lakehouse pics up, but I need to edit them first since I took most on my DSLR.
But on the way home from the lakehouse we stopped by to see Hubs's grandpa, Grandpa Curt. Both Hubs and Mac's middle name is Curtis after him.

We made this brown sugar scrub for Mother's day for grandma's and birthmoms. I never sent my moms since she was supposed to be coming and visiting. He plans were a bit delayed but we made hers right before she came to visit this week. Oak and I decided to try some and we loved it! It was super easy and fun for the kids to make.

Brown Sugar Scrub recipe:
2 Cups of brown sugar
1 Cup of granulated sugar
1 Cup of sunflower oil (found with the cooking oils)
1 tsp of vanilla
Mix and put in sealed container.

Oak started swim lessons this week. I didn't put her in the last session because I wasn't sure how she would do. She bombed swim lessons last summer. After watching Mac's class I decided she would do great. And she did!!! She sat and listened and did everything they asked her to. She loved it!

Last year, one of her hold-up with lessons was having a boy teacher. She didn't say a thing about her teacher this time.

My parents came to visit this week. And some how I didn't get a single picture with them. The have been doing some cleaning and packing since they hope to move to K Falls as soon as their house sells. And they brought me this big box full of cabbage patch dolls. So fun!

When the kids were setting the table they decided to make this tower. It was taller but they took the top off right before I took the picture.

A friend of ours does a bilingual preschool in her home. Oak plans on going to it in the fall. But she holds a graduation/end of year carnival every year and invited everyone she knows with preschoolers. It was a lot of fun. Oak for the first time got her face painted. Her and Mac have always been hesitant about it before.

She chose a snowflake and loved it!

Potato sack race. She had a hard time with this one.

Photo booth pic from the carnival.

We went to a local nursery to see about getting a hanging basket but they didn't have any good ones. But we did get some tomato plants for the kids to take care of this summer and some flowers to pot.

Since my parents were visiting we were able to get in a date night. We went to a fancy steak restraunt but the food was terrible. To make up for it, I got dessert, which I never do. The raspberry cheese cake was really yummy. And I am not really a cheese cake lover, so that says a lot.

We had some REI rewards money to use up so we got the kids some camelbacks for hiking this summer. My kids drink a ton of water and I dislike carrying heavy waterbottles on hikes.

I had a killer migraine this week. It would NOT go away. I took my normal life saver meds and it just wouldnt go away. Thankfully my mom was here and that helped a ton. I love that my kids always want to snuggle me when I have a migraine. They are so sweet.

The same day I had my bad migraine, our dryer broke. It wasn't turning on but the top was getting really hot!! We unplugged until Hubs could look at it. We thought it would be a broke drum belt, but that was fine. Hubs took it apart and fixed something that was wrong with it, but after he put it back together it still wasn't working. So he asked a friend about it and he offered to fix it for just parts. It was a fuse and was fixed for $20. What ever the two things were wrong with it could have easily caused a fire. So I am glad that we caught the problem and unplugged it. We have had this dryer for 8 years so hopefully we can get a few more years out of it.

Mac playing in the drum.

The kids' tomato plants. Oaks is the big one and Mac's is the small one. They are named baby tomato and mama tomato.

We were finally able to have a playdate. Mac has had to earn one with being kind to his sister, which he has struggled with lately. We went to the park first.

It's nice to live in a place where we can have kids over to play. We couldn't do that in our apartment.

We also stopped by to see dada at work and the kids played under his desk with some flash lights.

Then we headed to the library to pick up a reserved book and get a new pile of fun books to read.

Then we went bowling. We are doing the "Kids Bowl Free" program this year.
Mac loves it, Oak not so much. Pretty much everytime we have gone she has thrown a fit about one thing or another by frame two and we end up deleting her game. This time it was her shoes felt funny even though I went and got a new pair.

Saturday morning we decided we wanted to explore. A partner at work told Hubs about a place to possibly fish and we thought we would check it out. The 25 miles that led to the river looked like this and we didn't see another person or car at all.

We found a great place to get down to the river and it was low so the kids could play in it. Mac had so much fun just walking up and down it with daddy as daddy fly fished. He caught a few small trout.

On the way home we had to stop for a treat.

A friend put on a little bbq at the park to celebrate the end of the school year. The kids played baseball and tug-o-war. It was a ton of fun.

Oak got to swing a very long time with her cute friend who is in her sunbeam class.
Her mom texted me tonight telling a conversation they had after the park.
Her mom asked her about her favorite part of the day and she said, "Playing on the swing with Oak. But my most boring part is when Oak had to leave. "

So cute!!
