Week 21

Oak was getting really overwhelmed by the all the stuff in her room. So together we decided to put it all up for now. She was actually really excited about this.

Its never fun to do a "Saturday cleaning" as we call it.

All the first graders got to go to a cool evert for first graders. It was to help the kids become excited about reading.

More tree climbing on a beautiful day.

We decided to head over the mountain to the science museum.

We had plans to go hiking with friends on Saturday but Oak woke up crying about how sore her throat hurt. She had a fever also so I knew it was strep for this girl. I love that the strep tests come back so quickly now. And sure enough it was strep and we weren't able to go hiking.

Look how cute her and bear look.

Week 20

This boy is reading all the time. But not very often is it a chapter book. So I love when on his own he picks one up.

We had a really great homeschool day. We did chores, had a devotional on my bed, tried learning the USA presidents in order by listening to a song on YouTube, we started a keyboard typing program online, Oakd did a math lesson and Mac did math on Khan academy, we learned some times tables, we went on a walk, we had quiet time, we did a fun experiment learning about surface tension, Oak practiced reading, I read aloud Swiss Family Robinson, Mac earned money lading up the burn pile with branches from trimming the trees, Oak helped dad install sprinklers in the front yard, we went to Home Depot to get a few things and we listened to and discussed a talk by Elder Holland for FHE on the way to and from Home Depot, and we ate ice cream before bed.

Mac working hard, which is not something that comes naturally to him.

Mac earning money.

We went to the animal shelter and read to the dogs. Or at least tried to. The dogs barked so loudly that the kids had a hard time focusing on reading. But they loved talking to the dogs.

The kids fell in love with this Rottweiler. It was the only calm dog in the room. He was really sweet.

Just a cutie in her cowgirl hat.

The sprinklers came on when we were at the park and it was a hot day so the kids had fun running through them.

Saturday morning we decided to have breakfast on the deck. It was so amazing.

Lilacs from our bush. They smell amazing.

Mac working hard some more trying to earn some money.

Saturday family work.

We happened to see a classic car show and had to stop.

We met up with friends who were in town visiting. Mac loved spending time with his best buddy. We really miss them living here.

We got these tops for $2 at the farm store and the kids spent forever playing with them.

Sunday afternoon digging in the back yard.

Kids climbing the apple tree and the mom trying not to freak out when they do because of the giant lava rocks right below them

week 19

He was not feeling 100% because of the allergies he gets when we go north. So he was pretty tired and fell asleep during quiet time.

My sweet and very talented friend sent me a package.

Our new favorite game. Scrambled States of America.

Off to the Father and Son's campout. It snowed while they were there. Brrrrr.

We got some fertilized eggs (since we don't have a rooster) from our friend to put under our broody hen.

I just love her and her cute quirky way of dressing sometimes.

Week 18

I love the spring here in the high desert. It is the greenest season. Just a little walk in our "neighborhood"

The weather was so nice this week that we pretty much ignored our responsibilities like cleaning and just spent a lot of time outside. We needed to be outside after our long cold winter.

Of course the best way to bake.

Just the proof that we ignored responsibilities.

Oak doing her thing being creative.

Daddy left early so she climbed in bed with me and fell asleep.

Oak and Gloria

May the 4th be with you.

Our Nephew/cousin was getting baptized so we thought we would make a stop at Evergreen Museum since we can get in free with our museum pass.

The famous Spruce Goose.

Love this comparison from 7.5 years ago.

The grandsons.

They were matching

I got to drive in the back in between the kids. Its a full time job since they know they have my full attention.

Just enjoying the sun outside while listening to an audio book with dad.
