Week 13...spring break, Easter and theater camp

For spring break the kids were doing theater camp and were gone for four hours every day. As a homeschool mom this exciting. My kids are with me pretty much all day every day.  I was really excited to get some much needed things done and go to lunch with my mom every day.
I started with my room which had gotten out of control...
I only got about this far, which was actually great, along with dusting all the nasty, dirty blinds. Then my mom got food poisoning and got really sick so then I was up all night helping her then I was too tired to do anything productive the rest of the week.

We went on a little hike just before my mom got really sick.

The Easter bunny comes to our house on the Saturday. And this year the kids got art supplies from the Easter bunny. The kids were thrilled with what they got.

We squeezed in the local easter egg hunt into our morning along with general conference and getting the kids ready to go to the theater for their performance.

The kids did so great in their performances. Oak seriously surprised me with her acting. Both the kids made some really good friends. But unfortunately some means kids ruined some of the fun for Mac.

Week 11 & 12

Oak always needs something to keep her hands busy so we tried finger knitting and she loved it.

Our library is so great and always has a scavenger hunt of some sort. This time it was looking up call numbers. The kids loved it.

She had been begging me for a math workbook so I relented and she loved it.

Mac finished reading the whole Harry Potter series and he was so sad about it.

Date night was installing a new hot water heater because ours old one had been giving us fits for months.

Making a resurrection garden.

Every night a giant pile of books in his bed. It always makes me smile.

They wanted to completely match like twins. They might as well since I get asked everywhere we go if they are.

My birthday dessert made by my mom. Isn't it beautiful?! And it tasted even better than it looked. It was that delicious.

I turned 39. One year away from turning 40. I am not sure how that is even possible because I don't feel that old but I am perfectly ok being the age I am. I really like who I have become.

Hyggy schooling curled up on the floor.

Dad joined in when I pulled out our bucket of popsicle sticks and clips (stem activity).

This box was left in the family room and Chewy took it upon himself to take a nap in it.

Week 10

We needed to get our tires rotated so we took our school with us. It got done quicker than we could get school done so we headed to the library to finish.

The kids love our cat. They just laid here with him for 15 minutes.

Playing a math game.

Mac decided he wanted to earn some money making banana bread. He did a great job and did everything himself.

Mac also worked really hard and earned his green belt.

We went to the rock and gem show. The kids loved it.

I took Oak on a date.

She got a star bar which reminds me of a story from my childhood when my oldest brother (who is 15 years older than me) took me to dairy queen and I asked for a star bar and he wouldn't buy me one. So I said in my maddest little kid voice. "Just thanks a lot for not getting me a staw(r) baw(r)!!" And that has been a funny story in our family ever since. I took this photo and sent it to my brother. He loved it.

Week 8 & 9

My kids snuggling me after quiet time. Most of the time it turns into rough housing of course.

Started our first history unit on ancient Egypt. Of course Oak's went and put on her Cleopatra costume on. She would try to play in character as we were doing our lesson and it was totally annoying Mac. It was pretty funny to see him get his buttons pushed.

Silly homeschool kids asking to quizzed on spelling words for fun during dinner.

Oaklee had left these tennis shoes outside for a week. I aske her to bring them in and then they were sitting by our back door for a couple of weeks. Oak went to put them on and then screamed and threw the shoe down and said that there was a mouse in her shoe. I didn't believe her because she can be dramatic and also likes to joke around. But sure enough there was. When it was outside, our cat must have caught it and put it inside the shoe.

My brother came to visit for the weekend. It was so good to see him. My kids adored him. Oak had only seen him when my dad died and Mac had seen him once before Oak was born. So they don't really know him that well. We had such a great weekend with him.

He rough housed with them.

He gave them cardinals jackets since he lives near St. Louis.

Everyone was posting hat day pictures for their kids going to school so we decided to have our own hat day for our school day.

Oak's drawings always amaze me.

We decided to see how it went to let our kitty be a partly indoor kitty. It went well for the winter.
Mac doing a science experiment.

The cute tea pot I got at goodwill for $2.

This is how we spend most of our school days. Me reading to the kids.

Working on spelling with an activity from our spelling box.

For some reason Chewy liked laying on the map while Oak's played a geography game on the iPad.

Oak's sweet little friend who I babysit once a week got baptized.
