Week 4

Early Monday morning daddy had to leave on a business trip. We were all sad to see him leave.

I went and got a filling for the first time in ten years. I was so scared. But it didn't hurt one bit. My kids thought my kissy pucker lips was hilarious.

This is what happens when it gets really cold here. It is so beautiful.

We found this great youtube channel that teaches kids how to draw. These are Mac's drawings from it.

These are Oak's.

This is Mac's tank.

Oak and her AG doll dress alike.

I have felt for awhile that I need spend most of our school time on teaching my kids the gospel. This is what we have added to our school.

I thought this was so cute. I love moments like these where they find something to learn on their own.

When daddy went on his business trip he went to "Little Japan" in California. He brought back some cool Japanese things for the kids. And told the kids all about the culture that he was immersed in. The kids loved it and played all the things daddy told them about.

Oak dressing up like a Native American like her Kaya doll.

Mac had snowcapades for cubscouts. It's a family event but I opted for Oak and I to stay home while the boys went.

So while the boys were gone, Oak and I made a couch boat and ate popcorn for breakfast while watching Little House on the Prairie.

A Sunday pic just because I have stopped doing Sunday pics this year.

I hate that the photo is blurry but during scripture reading Mac was imitating his daddy and it was so cute.

This was how Oak wanted me to read her a story.

Week 3

The kids had been building a fort when it came time for family home evening or scripture reading (I can't remember which one). Oak decided she wanted to be in her fort so she grabbed a lamp and scriptures.

I went out to put the chickens away and found Gloria like this instead of in the coop. I guess she is feeling left out that she isn't laying eggs. It just was so funny. I took a funny little video of her squawking at me when I was talking to her.

Oak started basketball. She is loving it and it has been so much fun to watch her learn the sport and improve.

Exactly one week after Oak started her fever, Mac started a fever. It lasted two days exactly like Oak's then it was over just like Oak's it was weird.

We spent most of Mac's sick day watching Little House on the Prairie and Andy Griffeth. My kids are obsessed with both.

Because my kids love Andy Griffeth they have spent a ton of time playing Barney Fife. lol.

Mac was feeling better and it warmed up so we went on a lovely walk in our "neighborhood". It felt so good.

The kids kept throwing snowballs at us and Grandma retaliated. See the snowball mid air?

My mom (who lives with us) turned 75. She is the youngest 75 year old I have ever met.

"Happy Birthday to YOU!"

Love finding little gems like this when my kids are having quiet time.

Her first basketball game. She was terrible since she has never played before but loved every minute of it. She has had three more games and has improved so much.

We have been doing a lot of family history and my Mister was able to trace back one of his lines back to Cleopatra. My kids thought that was so cool. Especially Oak who loves all thing ancient Egypt.

Week 2

It was daddy's birthday and the kids made him breakfast all on their own. They could not understand why he had to go to work if it was his birthday.

 Making daddy's birthday cake.

Happy Birthday to this great guy of ours!

Tuesday morning Oak was fine by the afternoon she said she was cold when she felt hot and her cheeks were quite rosy. Poor girl ended up with a fever and when we got home from running errands went and laid on my bed and was asleep with in minutes. That is how you know she doesn't feel good. She hasn't taken a nap in years.

Mac playing in our front yard.

Thursday Mac was really wanting to do all thinks creative and science. He found something in one of his science books and made himself a guitar.

Oak's fever lasted two days and then she just had a stuffy nose for a few days. She rarely wants daddy to read to her at night but she did this night and I thought it was so cute.

Since VidAngel is no longer we opted to watch The Andy Griffith Show for pizza picnic movie night. My kids are obsessed with this show.

Daddy and did some one on one with the kids. While he took Mac out Oak and I soaked and scrubbed our feet and she painted my toenails. She insisted they all be a different color.

When daddy and mac were out daddy got Mac some matching Romeos. He loves them and insists that they sit next to wear dad puts his instead of in the shoe bucket.

When Oak went out with daddy he got her a fish. She loves him and named him bubbles. Mac and I ended up playing the game Risk.

Oak insisted I put sponge rollers in her hair. She didn't leave them in all night so they didn't work.

Week 1

So I finally found some curtains I love. And my sweet hubs decided all on his own that he would make me some curtain rods. I was a little hesitant at first with his idea. But I absolutely love them. And I love how the curtains have changed the feel of our family room. Next on my list are some big book shelves and a new couch.

The picture isn't great but my husband ended up using metal pipes for the rods.

This kid. He doesn't love reading chapter books to himself as much as I thought he would. But he cracks me up at how he reads.

She has loved her violin.

A mother in our homeschool community has been putting together monthly P.E. classes. For the winter they have been doing different barn dances. Oak was so excited to go and then it was postponed because we had a ton of snow dumped on us. So we decided to practice the dance at home and we had a blast.

So one evening I shoveled about 6 inches of snow so Hubs could get in the driveway when he got home. And I love my new snow boots that Hubs insisted I get and I almost didn't.

Grandma has a table set up in her house with a puzzle. She got some good ones the kids could help with. This one was really fun.

So after I shoveled the 6 inches that one night. We then woke up to another 18 inches. I was not happy. It was a boat load of snow.

No where near done. Then to top it off I had a huge berm at the bottom of our huge driveway from the snow plow. By the time I got to it, I was exhausted. Then our awesome neighbor who lives behind us was driving by and stopped and said he would bring down his tractor to take care of the berm for me. What a saint. He came down and moved that berm in ten minutes when it would have taken me and hour.

Since we had been stuck in the house for a few days I let the kids dump all their legos out. They loved it and were getting along. So it was a win.

After our driveway was shoveled. Because of how much snow there was and it was really wet snow I only made the a path big enough for one vehicle.

Cute girl and she asked to have pig tail braids.

After getting all that snow we had a few days of subzero temps. Look at the beautiful trees. Boy was it cold.

After so many movies during Christmas break I decided that we needed to take a break. It was hard on the kids. It was a full week of them constantly asking me if they could watch a movie and me say "No, go read a book or find something to learn." By the end of the week they finally got the hint.

Oh, then it snowed some more but this time it was a Saturday so Hubs went and borrowed our other neighbors snow blower and he took care of it. Took him several hours.

Our front yard was knee deep.

After all that hard work daddy did to clear the driveway he treated us to a movie. This was the best movie. We loved it so much!
