Mac and Oak funnies...

So for some reason I forgot about recording these on here! But here are all the funny things my kids have said over the last year. The top is the most recent and bottom is from a year ago.

3.5 hours into a 4.5 hour drive.
Mac: Can we play the quiet game?
Me: Well...ok I guess so.
Kids: Yay!!!
Parenting win!
Oak 4 / Mac 1

We were playing a game and Oak's turn did not go so well and then she says, "This is not how Batman dies!" I have never heard her quote this before, but knew it was from the Lego movie. So funny!

Mac as he was trying to get me and grandma out the door: "m-o-m and old m-o-m let's go!"

A conversation with Oaklee about arguing after talking to my mom:
Oak: you are not supposed to argue. Moms and daughters don't argue.
Me: but you argue with me.
Oak: but if the mom is also a grandma then you can't argue.
Me: oh got it.
Oak: you always break the law.
Me: no I don't. If I did I would be in jail.
Oak: well the rule is no arguing and you TEND to do that.

Oaklee climbed into my bed one morning. A few minutes later...
Oak: I can't go back to sleep because of the air.
Me: the air? What's wrong with the air?
Oak: it's too loud.

A Mac random: "Mom I think that I would never want to play video games or play on the computer ever again if we lived in the forest, by a river, in a tent so that I could just fish all day with Dad." Oh that would be the life bud!

Oaklee noticed the bag of chocolate on my nightstand.
Oak: What are these for?
Me: Daddy knew that I had a rough day yesterday and he knows that I love chocolate so to be nice he got me those.
Oak: So now I can tell my husband what to buy me when I have a rough day.
heart emoticon

Mac was quizzing us. Mac: "What is the name of the magician that is death?" Translation: What is the name of the musician that is deaf? Lol, cute!

Me: I'm going to lose my mind.
Oak: And pull your hair out?
Me: Pretty much.

Mac about to eat his 6th "little cutie" says, "Mom, I'm about to break the world record for how many cuties a six year old can eat.

Oak to daddy: "Dad I need you to do me a favor...I need you to play the piano wihle I play the guitar."

Mac comes into my bed and starts playing a little play guitar, "This is a song about a boy being friends with a zombie." No words, just music, with an occasional interpretation of "This is the part where..."

Oak funny: she got some new fingerless gloves as a gift. "I never thought I would get gloves like these...then BAM!! I got some!"

Oak to Mac: "Isn't it cool I can do talented things?...Shake your head yes. "

Oak funny: the kids were talking about how they were going to take the train with grandma and grandpa back to their house. And Oak says, "yeah dad, maybe we will send you a card!"

Oak quote as we walked into the craft store: "I think they saw my beautifulness so they turned this music on."

Mac and Daddy went golfing.
Mac: Is golfing a sport?
Dad: yep
Mac: Dad, I think I found my sport.

Oaklee: I want to be a princess for Halloween.
Me: Do you want to be Elsa? You already have an Elsa dress you could wear.
Oak: Yeah! But could you KNIT me ice powers?
Me: What?! How am I supposed to knit you ice powers?
Oak: Actually I'll just be a ghost.

I told the kids to go clean up their mess before they made a new one.
Overheard this conversation while on their way to clean up...
Oak: Let's go play!
Mac: We need to clean up then we can play.
Oak: Let's clean and play...you clean and I'll play!

Oak 6:50 am, dressed as Spider-Man ...
Me: you are so cute.
Oak: Spider-Man is not cute!...well he was when he was a baby.

My kids were upstairs cleaning their rooms. All of a sudden I hear Mac yell down to me that "Oak is coming downstairs to tell you how much she loves me and thinks I am the best big brother ever!" Then I hear Oak stomping down the stairs and she yells, "NO I'M NOT! Mac threw something at me and hurt me".

Oak prayed one morning that "everyone will listen to their moms."

Checking out at Home Depot...
Mac: I scanned my hand!
Me: how much are you worth?
Mac: your love (then gives me a big hug)
I needed to hear that after a rough day with him yesterday.

Mac quote (mad at me for receiving a consequence for a poor choice): "you sure know how to make a boy sad!"

Text from my mom: "Oak just said to me...I WISH MY MOM WAS HERE...SHE CAN DO ANYTHING." Totally made my day!

Oak asked grandma to draw a unicorn.
Oak: that's not a unicorn!
Mac: she's doing the best she can!

My kids five minutes before dinner: "I'm starving! Can I have a snack?"
(No snack given)
My kids at dinner after zero bites of food eaten: "I'm too full to eat!"

Mac and Oak were playing. Mac: "You scared the wits out of me! THE WITS ARE SCARED!"

Oak funny: Oak was brushing my hair and she was looking at all my gray hair and says, "You have frozen in your hair!" Yes, yes I do!

Oak funny: I did her hair this morning and asked if she liked it. She looked in the mirror and said she did. So ten hours later she was playing with her hair then all of a sudden she starts glaring at me and I could tell she was mad. I asked what was wrong and she says, "You didn't do my hair the way I wanted!" Lol

Mac and Oak were playing the piano.
Oak: "McCoy you be the grinch and play over there."(Pointing to the other end of the piano).
Mac: (starts playing on Oaks end)
Oak: "No, your the grinch and play over there."
Mac: "Well the grinch does go down into your town."
He's got a point! His logic lately kills me!

Thank you Frozen for the cute moment in the craft store today where I listened to my daughter belt out "Let it go!" at the top of her lungs, and for the numerous times a day where she also tells me she doesn't need to wear her coat because, "The cold doesn't bother me anyway!"

Last night we were looking through a brand new house an acquaintance built. When I was snuggling with Mac at bedtime he says very seriously, "Mom, I want to talk to you about something...you know that house that we looked at?...If we buy that house, I am worried about buying ice cream and it melting because there wasn't a freezer." Oh to be six and be worried about something like that.

Sunday Gratitude...four

I am grateful...

...that Mac had a good day at church. He really struggles with church and got in trouble in his class last week. But this week he was great all three hours.

...for budgeting and sticking with it. It has really brought me so much peace this month and I am proud of myself for keeping at it.

...for the warmer weather. It feels like early spring and that just makes me giddy.

...for old friends. We got to see our friends from our old neighborhood and it is so great that we can go back and visit them.

...to be able to visit most of Oak's birth family. Oak was so excited about it and she loves getting to see them.

...that my mom is back with us. She is living with us but has been out of town for a couple of weeks and we really missed her. We love having her here with us.

...for Hubs' job and the great people he works with. We went to the firms yearly dinner and it is great to visit with them outside the office and get to know them a bit better. Although I still can't remember anyone's names.

out of town, visiting friends and playing outside...

We were out of town this week and apparently I didn't take many pictures.

Monday we made banana bread. We had an extra loaf and Mac wanted to take it to his Primary teacher and write her an apology note for how he acted in class the day before. This was all his idea and he was very excited about it.

Left my hubby a bathroom mirror love note.

Oak and Mac spent a lot of time playing with benji (my inlaws dog)

We went to pick up my Mom from my Uncles house and Oak had to go and see the pigs. They are so ugly they are cute!

Mac was trying to make an ant trap. It didn't work.

The kids had fun playing outside and exploring at grandma and grandpas.

Watching a show on the ipad. I thought it was so funny how they were sitting. The ipad had to be plugged in since it was nearly out of battery power so we couldn't put it someplace more comfortable.

We got to play with our old neighbor friends. My kids jumped in to play like they have never been gone. We miss that place and our friends so much.

I had the kids clean up the family room and they both kept out the comics from the news to read when they were done.

Got to visit Mac's other neighbor friend the next day.

Grandma helping Mac read before bed.

Before church the kids made this. I seriously love seeing what my kids come up with when left to entertain themselves.

random learning, I was sick and a fun kids event...

Last Sunday Mac was bored and he wanted me to find something for him to do. I told him I wasn't responsible to entertain him so he pulled out one of his learning workbooks that he really doesn't like. And he probably spent 30 minutes going through it without getting bored or frustrated. That is so unlike him.

A friend from our stake had a baby and she asked if we could watch her little girl for a couple of hours while her husband came to the hospital and watched the baby so she could take a nap. we loved it and she is the sweetest little thing.

I was thinking we hadn't done any school this week but I guess we worked on a bit of subtraction.

Oak has been wanting to learn to braid so I set up this little thing with ribbons to teach her. She got really frustrated at first but actually picked it up very quickly.

We went to the park one day because it was a nice day but once we got there it was COLD. So we didn't stay long. But the kids always have to roll down the hill when we are at this park.

We read about this little trick in a Highlights magazine that grandma had given us. You stack up five pennies and then shove a penny towards the bottom of the stack and just the bottom penny will come out. It is a pretty cool trick.

One night we watched a bunch of music videos from The Piano Guys and Lindsey Stirling. The kids always love doing that. Oak danced pretty much the whole time.

And of course Mac had to get out the Light Sabers for Cello Wars.

He just looked so big sitting there reading during during his turn in family scripture reading.
Reading scriptures has helped his reading so much.

We have been sharing coughs and head cold around here. I finally got it and was down for two days. And our sweet service oriented Oak on her accord thought up, made and brought me breakfast in bed. It was so thoughtful. The next day Mac joined in and they both brought me breakfast in bed again.

While Oak was at preschool we read a library book about Owls that Mac had gotten at the library and we wrote down some facts that we learned about them. Mac really loves owls.

Lately Mac has been really into building models of houses with his legos.

She is just too cute!

I have gotten in a better habit of having a clean kitchen, plus now with my mom living with us who loves to keep busy with housework, my kitchen is always spotless. So with her being out of town and me being sick our kitchen went to "pots" (haha funny pun) very quickly. It smelled terrible so.

One morning I asked Mac to come and help unload the dishwasher. He said he was busy doing math then he read off to me what he had being doing and this is what it was. I love that he loves math and that all on his own he was doing this.

I was sick for two days. The first day when I felt the worst the kids watched tv all day. So the next day when I felt a bit better I said no tv and they could play however they wanted. They ended up making a pirate ship and played pirates all afternoon. I love when my kids get the chance to play freely and they don't complain of being bored.

They also made movies of their pirate adventures.

I have gotten in the habit of making my bed everyday and I didn't for the two days I was sick. But during quiet time, Oak got to be in my room (since the kids share a room now) and when I came up after quiet time was over I walked in and Oak had made my bed. For a minute I thought maybe I had made it and had just forgotten that I had. But nope, Oak did it all on her own.

Saturday we went to the annual PLAY outdoors event for kids at the fair grounds. It is free and pretty awesome. It is an event that helps kids to get excited about all the outdoor activities that can do and be involved in. We spent more than two hours there. And we still didn't do or see everything they had there.

The kids were amazed at how big a teepee is in inside.

This was a boyscout thing. Mac loved this!

Oak really only cared about the horses.

The fire department had a little hose dragging race.

For some reason Mac was totally enthralled by this presentation of safety. He stood and listened for about 10 minutes.

Mac got to shoot a bb gun for the first time. He was so excited!

He even got to keep his target.

Oaks favorite part. Pretty sure she would have been happy to take him home. She stayed by him for more than 15 minutes.

The lady even let Oak walk her around.

They also got to shoot a bow and arrow.

On the way out we saw the panning for gold booth.

She is improving!

Sunday!

Mac gave a talk in Primary and he read his whole talk by himself. Go MAC!
