week 4

Mac is so stinking picky about food yet he will eat disgusting things like this.

We were reading Wonder and for some reason it gave them the itch to play "public school".

Chewy will just sit and watch the chickens through the fence. It's kinda funny.

Trying to do some branch weaving. It was harder than anticipated which led to a melt down from one little girl. We will have to try again someday.

Aren't they the cutest?!

This bread is soooo yummy!

Thursday poetry tea time.

Oaklee's snow dog.

Reading at breakfast.

We were stopping to get pizza and found this old caboose along the bike trail behind the pizza place.

Oak and her cat.

Oak making shortcake for dessert all by herself.

We were having some friends over for dinner and with out meaning to the tablecloth and plates coordinated. I loved it.

Reading and outdoor stuff...week 3

The morning that President Nelson was to be announced as our new prophet. I gathered my kids into my bed with their journals and scriptures. We watched, discussed, answered questions and felt the spirit. Then we all wrote in our journals what we just witnessed and then did our school scripture study. It is a moment I hope my kids will hold on to.

play do sculptures by Mac.

Oak went through a little spurt where she just read and read.

We celebrated my mom's 76th birthday.

What breakfast usually looks like.

Oak's sculpture.

She finished reading her very first chapter book all on her own. We were all so proud!

The next day she just read and read.

And read...

And read...

And read.

This is pretty much what they do every time we come home from the library with a big book haul.

Our community puts on a free even every year call P.L.A.Y. Outdoors. (Play stands for something but I don't remember).  But they pretty much have booth after booth of outdoor activities to get the kids interested in outdoor activities like hunting, animals, bird watching, fishing, scouts, shooting, archery and so on. It is amazing.

Oak's homemade horse.

And the cows that live in the cow field across the street come and graze and poop in our yard all the time.

A few special days...week 2

We celebrated Oak's forever day. She always asks for a crown on this day. Grateful to have her in our family forever.

Making apple crisp for daddy's birthday. They made the topping completely on their own.

And this handsome guy turned 39. We are so grateful for all that he does for our family.

We finally left Chewy outside all night instead of bringing him into the garage for the night. And to thank us he brought us a mouse. Thanks Chewy.

When I was sick with influenza my sweet hubby bought me a new bed spread which we needed badly. I love it so much!

We made some super yummy gluten free/dairy free blueberry muffins.

Sometimes school is more fun if you do get to do your work on the window.

Cute kids getting to enjoy daddy sunday morning.

Daddy was released from the bishopric because we got a new bishop. Thankful we get to sit by him during sacrament meeting now.

A new year! Week 1

This girl loves to be outside with her cat. She doesn't care how cold it is.

Our house was a complete disaster after a whole month of sickness and Christmas. We spent the entire morning of new years day cleaning and putting things away until the house shined. It felt so good to get it in order. It was cold out but beautiful so we thought we would get out of the house for just a bit after working so hard all morning. We had fun throwing rocks on the frozen lake and listening to the cool sound.

Reading...

and reading.

Mac bought a really cool kids cook book with Christmas money. He made a treat for poetry tea time.

Oak made the cutest dragon costume for her bear. I thought she was super clever with the spikes on the back.

Fort building. Always fort building on Thursdays.

Drawing a map of the unites states for school.

We started our scripture study of the old testament for homeschool. I decided it would be good for them to have a scripture journal to write in after our study.

Sometimes I get a glimpse of the sweetness of this kid who struggles to see past his own nose sometimes. Just before bed he said to me very seriously, "Mom, how does it feel to wake up in the morning and know you have so much to do and so much to take care of being a mom? Oaklee and I wake up and think about what we get to play but you wake up knowing you have a lot to do. How does that feel." Grateful for these little glimpses.

They play cowboys and Indians for two weeks straight! It was the cutest!

Ready for church and getting along.
