Share-A-Recipe!!!

I have been wanting to share recipes with all of you in hopes that some of you would share some of your recipes too. So I encourage you all to try to post a recipe every so often on your blog.

We happened to be making this tonight for dinner. This recipe comes from Hubs's family.

Zucchini Patties

2-3 cups of shredded zucchini
1 egg
1 cup of Bisquick
1/2-3/4 cup of shredded cheese

Mix all together in a bowl. Then cook patties on the griddle (like hamburgers).
Make sure that they are cooked all the way through since there is egg in them.

We like to eat them with ketchup and a little tabasco.

Why I am excited to have a BOY...

This is Hubs...

...this is my favorite picture of Hubs as a little boy, mostly because of the story that goes with it. Doesn't he look like such a good boy in this picture? Well Hubs's mom took this picture and a few minutes after this picture was taken, Hubs got the hose and sprayed his mom down and wouldn't let her into the house. Funny huh?
A few things I am excited about having a boy...
(not in any particular order.)
1. Hubs can take him on the "father&sons" camp out.
2. Someday I will have another priesthood holder in my home.
3. I love how little boys get all dirty and rough when they play.
4. I get to teach him how to respect and treat women.
5. I get to send my son on a mission.
6. I wont have to spend as much time on doing his hair before we go anywhere.
7. My son will probably always look GQ, I am super picky about baby/kids clothes.
8. The cousins he will be closest to in age are all boys.
9. Hubs will have a fishing buddy.
10. Watching him imitate his dad.

Waiting...

In exactly 4 months from today our little guy is due to come into this world. Some days I feel like that is not enough time to prepare, and the next day it feels like it is forever away. This entire weekend it has felt like way too long of a wait. After waiting 6 years for this to come, you think I could manage 4 more months.

On a more exciting note...

We are meeting with our birthmother this weekend, and I am really excited for Hubs to get the chance to meet her. I met with her about a week and a half ago, and she is such a sweet girl, and we got along really well. I am hoping to get a picture of us with her so that I can show you all.

...a boy...

Boys are found everywhere -- on top of, underneath, inside of, climbing on, swinging from, running around or jumping to.

Mothers love them, little girls hate them, older sisters and brothers tolerate them, adults ignore them and Heaven protects them. A boy is Truth with dirt on its face, Beauty with a cut on its finger, Wisdom with bubble gum in its hair and the Hope of the future with a frog in its pocket.

Birthday, Carousel, Ice Cream and saying Goodbye (Family Visit, Part 4)

Our Visitors!!
We had to say goodbye to Hubs's parents and the kids Tuesday night. We were really sad to see them leave. I was just about in tears after they left. We had so much fun!!
But before we had to say goodbye...
McKenna turned eight, so we decided to celebrate by going to the Carousel and having ice cream. The kids loved the Carousel, and got to ride it a few times. Then they all picked out blue cotton candy ice cream. Although I don't like ice cream, I tasted it because the kids said that it really tasted like cotton candy, and it did!

The Birthday Girl!!

This picture crack me up, because every time I tried taking it, Hallie would be trying to pose some goofy way. See how she is blurry. I like it because it shows how much fun she is having.
Also...notice what they are sitting on...a fish and frog.

Mmmmm...ice cream!!

Click on the picture and read the sign. Kinda cute!

Gates of the Mountains (Family Visit, Part 3)

This is going to be a long post, sorry!
"Gates of the Mountains" is part of the Lewis and Clark trail which is on the Missouri River. Why it is called the Gates is that a part of the river and the rock formations is in an S shape and when you come upon this part the rocks part and it looks like a gate opening up then when you go through and look back it looks like a gate closing. (If and of that made any sense.) The captain/guide had been doing this for thirty years and was able to talk the entire 2 hour trip about the history of the area. He knew a lot. My mother-in-law loved all the information because she is an elementary school teacher and they study Lewis & Clark every year. There is a big forest fire there and the kids were enthralled by the whole thing. We couldn't see the actual fire but we did see a few little flames here and there. The guide told a story about 15 smoke jumpers who died in a forest fire in the exact same area about 50 years ago.

I love this man's SMILE!!

Goofin around!
Cole.

Who doesn't do this when you have the opportunity.

Waiting

Getting ready to leave on the boat ride.

US!

There was a big forest fire in the area, and this picture shows how smokey it was up there.

We saw two adult, Bald Eagles, and a young one. The young ones are all brown and don't get their white heads for about 6 years, and they look as big as the adults.

They call this the "Monster of the Mountains".

These are Indian hieroglyphics of "dream quests". I don't remember how old they said they were.

The captain of the boat let all the kids steer the boat for a little while. The kids thought that this was pretty cool. I thought that this was pretty cool! And they all did a good job, because we didn't crash or sink.
