Our week started with Oak accidentally dropping a glass bowl when trying to put it away. Thankfully she didn't get cut.
I have been eating a green smoothie for lunch everyday and these kids seem to need one too. Which I have no problem with. At least I know Mac is getting some extra good nutrients in him.
Oak relaxing in the sun.
And being a little sassy.
Oak loves to exercise and asks to do Cosmic Kids Yoga often.
We played Farkle for math one day this week. Mac can now keep score entirely on his own. We worked a lot on lining the numbers up so that it is easier to add.
We made a trip to the library and got a bunch of Wild West books at Mac's request.
The kids picked out some stickers they thought their birthmoms would like and decorated cards for them for Mother's Day. Mac chose an outdoor theme because he knows his birth mom likes the outdoors and Oak chose butterflies because Oak thought that her birthmom would like them. They turned out really cute. Hope they liked them!
And after being gone for nearly seven weeks, Grandma came home. She had a blast on her trip and we loved hearing about all the places she went to. She went to Utah to Texas to New Orleans to Florida to St. Louis to Mt. Rushmore and then home.
Thursday we went to The Lave Bed National Monument for a special living history day. It was so great despite the fact that it was COLD and windy!!! By noon it wasn't as bad. But we loved it all. These were mountain men.
Oak found a ton of lady bugs.
Another kid found a lizard and let Mac hold it for a sec.
This is a lava bed called Devil's homestead.
Thankfully I had left our picnic blanket in the back of the van.
Listening to a reenactment story of JD Howard who helped make this place a national monument.
The Modoc American Indian war took place here so these guys told us about the medicines and medical procedures that were used back then.
This guy showed the kids the different guns that were used. We also were told about canons and blacksmithing.
This lady was talking about coming here on the Applegate trail. Which was supposedly a short cut from the Oregon Trail.
Oak got to peel an apple.
Friday night was date night FINALLY! We were bored after dinner so we went to Fred Meyer and just sat on the couches.
Oak wanted me to make her bat girl mask.
Me: Are you batgirl?
Oak: Yes. I'm married to someone SIMILAR. His name is Batman.
Me: Oh really?
Oak: But nobody is supposed to know. So don't tell anyone.
Then when Oak was wearing it outside later, all the little girls need a mask. So I got to be the cool mom to make them all one.
Saturday we had the best day. It was full of fun. First we went to the Bishoprics breakfast at the church. Then we headed off to International Migratory Bird Day at the park. There were so many activities and we were there for two hours.
Then we went out to lunch.
So after I took this picture Oak says, "I just totally photo bombed you!" I had no clue she even knew what that meant.
This was the lunch the kids chose. How fun is that?!
Then we went and picked out Mother's Day flowers.
We loved these black flowers we found.
Oak spent most of her time playing fetch with the resident dog at the nursery. This dog loves playing fetch. And Oak cried when we had to leave.
Because Mac has never been very motivated to learn to ride his bike without training wheels, a long time ago I said I would take him to the store to get a new Lego if he did. See video below!
Sunday was Mother's Day. Oak was sick and stayed home with daddy. Daddy and Mac made breakfast for Grandma and I. And it was just a quiet day.
So Saturday Mac tried to ride his bike without much success. So then we finally got the pedals off of Oak's bike to make it into a balance bike. Mac went up to the end of the sidewalk and back and then got on his bike, where I helped him get started and he was off on his own. It was amazing to watch. This video is the cutest! He finally was able to take off on his bike without help and you can here him yell, "I did it!" Love it!
Oak singing her new favorite song.
