Who knew trouble could be so cute...

Oh, she is so beautiful that it makes my heart skip a beat every time I look at her, but...
don't be fooled by her cuteness.

She is trouble in its cutest form!

She is a tornado and can undo what I have just done in mere seconds.
She can and will do something she isn't supposed to and makes sure I know it.
She giggles and runs away when she gets caught.
She will do something she isn't supposed to over and over just to see if I will do something about it.
She has to be supervised at all times while eating otherwise her food will end up thrown all over the table and floor.
She climbs, gets into, steals, scatters, throws more than I thought was possible for a 19 month old.
And she totally understands what she is doing, she is no dummy.
This is a whole new experience in motherhood for me as Mac never did any of those things (he was difficult in other areas).
It makes me want to laugh and cry all at the same time and I probably let her get away with way more than I should.
But who wouldn't when you look at her...

She loved the snow and kept on picking it up on our walk.
She really wanted some in her pocket.

Her favorite thing about the snow was eating it.

"Some Mom!"

"A mess!"

"Bear dirty...clean!"

Seriously, could she be any cuter?!

birthday...

My beautiful birthday gift from my cute little family.
Although my birthday didn't go as planned it was a very great day. It included, getting to sleep in, yellow lilies from my parents. Mac telling me over and over "Happy Birthday!" and Oak actually singing Happy Birthday over and over (so adorable), getting a shower, my mom washing my dishes, my beautiful necklace, my parents and then my in laws watching the kids so Hubs and I could go out to eat.
I am blessed!

white spring...

On the second day of Spring in Oregon we woke up to this. It was not at all suspected, we had no clue it was supposed to snow. This picture was taken in the morning and so that is not all the snow we got. I think it ended up being about 8 inches or so.
First off, it was the second day of Spring, the end of March, why on earth is it snowing! Second, the Valley floor of Oregon never gets this much snow even in the winter, ever! I don't remember the last time we have ever gotten this much snow. And third, it was awesome snow. The kind you can make a really good snow ball and an awesome snowman.
The final thing about it snowing is that our power went out about 6:30am and was supposed to be out until the evening of the following day (which was my birthday). We made the best of it and it ended up being a really fun day, although I don't really like snow. And I knew it was going to ruin my birthday plans for the next day.

Hubs stayed home from work and tried to do work from his phone and also had to go sit in the car with it running to charge his phone while he did a phone conference. The kids have seen so little of him they pretty much mauled him the entire day. They wanted NOTHING to do with me at all. Daddy loved it! And I for sure didn't mind it.

We watched a movie we had already downloaded to our iPad (we took the data package off recently so we couldn't get the Internet). Oak laid there for about 2.5 seconds and would not hold still. Then we decided that we would brave the snow although we had no way of warming us up when we came back in. But just as we were about to do that, our neighbor came over and told us that she was going to be making a big batch of homemade chicken noodle soup on her propane stove in her garage. And she asked me to text other in our neighborhood to see if they wanted some. She is the sweetest lady! We just live in an awesome neighborhood, really we do!

Just after I got Oak dressed she fell backwards and couldn't get back up and was giggling so hard. I didn't get many pictures in the snow because it was too hard with how deep the snow was, I had to carry Oak. Then it fell out of my pocket into the snow and i didn't know. Thankfully it was for only like 5 minutes before I realized this.

Oak loved the snow and did not want to go in at all. So as we were trying to get dried off and warm by the propane heater, Hubs sat her in the snow and she sat there for 30 minutes giggling and eating snow the whole time. It was so cute and funny!

You could hear her say "mmmm" after every bite.
Mac loved playing in the snow with his neighborhood buddies. I asked him later if he liked building a snowman and he said that he didn't really help make it because he was too busy throwing snow balls. Funny kid!

Hubs made us homemade hot chocolate on our little camping stove in the garage. It was so yummy! Oak kept on talking about her "chocolate milk".

Mac wanted to eat some snow so I just got him a bowl of snow and a spoon. He was a happy boy!

By about 3:30pm we found out the power wasn't going to be on for at least another 24 hours and we were getting cold. My parents power had finally come back on so we packed up to drive to my parents house and hour and a half away. As soon as we got to there house, I got a text saying that our power had come back on.

Red Headed Disposal...

This adorable little man in my life has been a human food disposal lately. He has not been able to go more than 15 minutes without eating. Even after eating a huge meal. He must be going through a growth spurt.
The photo above reminded so much of him as a baby. Miss that baby boy of mine, but loving this big boy of mine too. He ran up to me randomly yesterday and said in the happiest, cheerful voice, "Mommy, I need a hug!" And he squeezed me so tight! He doesn't hand out hugs like that usually (even though I steal lots of hugs from him all day long) so I cherished that moment and can't stop thinking about it.

Love his big, cheesy, toothy smile! When I looked at this photo it made me think that I only have a year or two before this smile is gone and replaced with a toothless smile.
Oh how he melts me!

A mile long...

A list for my week:

  • take a small birthday surprise to a friend (Today).
  • possibly/hopefully help a friend who has just moved (or at least take her a housewarming/cheering up gift).
  • get dishes caught up from the weekend (the biggest thing I dread).
  • FHE (Today) This did not happen, I just didn't get it put together and Hubs didn't get home from work until 10pm.
  • make a couple loaves of banana bread and a few dozen cookies for leaders at our church to go and visit families (Tuesday).
  • drop treats off at the church. (Tuesday)
  • make our little family some bread for sandwiches.
  • help Mac with writing his talk for Primary.
  • return DVD to library (Wednesday).
  • pick up our CSA bag between 4 and 7pm (Thursday)
  • possibly go to Relief Society Birthday (Thursday)
  • drop kids off at my parents house. (Thursday).
  • call about Jury Duty (Thursday night).
  • serve Jury Duty (Friday).
Okay so my list really isn't a mile long. But I am someone who doesn't like to be over scheduled, it stresses me out. And just looking at this list stresses me out. I am not stressed out by the things on my list, infact I am happy and exited to do each one (well, except for the dishes). I just hope that I can do all of this and more and not break down. Here's to a great week!!

The latest book casualties...

Oh boy is Oak rough on books!  These are just the latest casualties. If you notice a theme here, is that we shouldn't have any books with flaps or that pop-up. These also happen to be all her favorite books for us to read to her.

on my mind

I hate stuff and we have too much of it and I spend too much time trying to put it away, moving it or looking at it wondering what the heck to do with it. It has all got to GO!

I can't believe that it has taken me more than a year and a half to update the photos in our house to include Oak. Mommy FAIL!

I think I may be addicted to honey, but I guess that is better than sugar. It has been almost a week since I have had any processed sugar and I am so proud of myself. This means no chocolate, can you believe it?!

I really hate how many socks I have to wash, dry and put away. In fact there are so many of them that they rarely get put away. They sit in a pile on the floor or in a laundry basket and my husband without complaining digs through the pile in the dark to find a match to wear to work. I HATE socks! And REALLY LOVE my husband!

I love March! I love how it means we are getting closer to Spring and it feels like the winter is fading away. Well except for the fact that we woke up to snow this morning, crazy!

I have really been enjoying cooking, but I HATE all the dirty dishes that come out of it and the fact that I have to do them. I really wish I had a maid that just did my dishes after I make a meal.

Trying to tell myself that it is okay that Oak has officially gone down to one nap a day. She is just growing up way too fast for my liking!

Mac Funnies...

At 6:20am Mommy and Daddy were in bed ASLEEP (as well as Oak) and Mac comes in and says to me (in a not so whispering voice): "Let's go wake up Oak so we can all get up as a family!" I have to say that I was almost tempted with such an adorable request. ♥

My bug obsessed son got in the bath tub and after a minute we spotted a spider in the tub that must have been hiding under a bath toy. As I was trying to scoop it up, Mac says, "Hurry mommy, I like spiders, but not REAL ones!!"

Daddy was snuggling with Mac in bed tonight and Mac says, "Daddy, I love you!...I love you more than Dilly Bars." If you know how much Mac loves Dilly Bars, you would know that is ALOT!! ♥

Mac: Mommy, you know what would be a really good thing?
Mommy: What?
Mac: When I get bigger and grown up I could cut peoples hair like at the barber shop!
Mommy: You want to be a barber?
Mac: No, I want to be a police man!...

Mac: Mom can you please come here.
Mom: I'm coming...
Mac: I don't see your feet moving.

Mommy: I don't think I have enough energy to get Oak ready for bed.
Daddy: You can borrow some of Mac's energy.
Mac: NO! You can't borrow my energy, then I can't be wild!

L.O.V.E.

Daddy doing his baby girl's hair for church.

And my baby girls curls.

...I could just die from love at the sight of both of these.
