Mac Funnies!

too funny!!!

*Sunday morning we were reminding Mac that he gets to go to Primary and be a Sunbeam again. He started whining and saying that he didn't want to be. And about an hour after that Mac walks up to me and sounding defeated says, "Ok mommy, I'll be a Sunbeam."

*Out of no where Mac says, "After Grandpa (my dad) sneezes he says OH GEEZE!"

*Mac has been potty trained since the middle of December. But he was have some #2 issues one night and after putting him in bed (thankfully with a pullup on) he didn't quite make it to the bathroom. Without telling us anything and with out us hearing anything, he tries to clean it all up himself. Then we hear him running to our room and he is standing at the door with no pants or underwear on and poop up and down his legs he says, "Mom, WE'VE GOT A PROBLEM...I pooped!"

*Some how my birthday came up when having a conversation with Mac. And he just didn't understand why I wouldn't want a monster truck or a mac truck for my birthday. When I would tell him that I would rather have a "pretty" for me, he just kept asking me, "why don't you like monster trucks?" I tried to explain that I do like them, but for him, not for me. He still doesn't understand MY logic. Love that kid!!

*Grandma and Grandpa (my parents) have a toaster oven with a toaster slot on top. When grandma was making him toast Mac says, "Our toaster doesn't have a door!"

*A few months ago me and the kids were leaving my parents house to go home, it was dark and started to snow really hard. So we turned around and went back to my parents house. Mac really wanted to go home, so I was trying to explain to him that the roads were too dangerous to drive on and we needed to be careful. Fast forward to just this last week. We were leaving my parents house to go home and Mac didn't want to leave. As we were driving down the road he exclaims, "The roads aren't careful, we need to go back to Grandma's house!"

*Mac had just gotten done eating his PB&J sandwich and just hopped down from the table to go and play. I asked him if his hands were clean and he said, "Yep, I just licked them!"

*He was laying on the floor on his stomach and I told him it was time to eat dinner and he replied, "I need to do tummy time first!"

*He told me he had a secret and kept telling me to come closer when I put my ear out for him to tell me it. And when I got close enough he yelled it at me. We finally figured out he got this from the Emperors New Groove.

*Mac was having trouble staying in bed one night and he was finally being quiet so I quickly peeked my head in his door to see if he was asleep. He saw me and quickly put the blanket over his head and as I walked away I hear, "PHEW...that was close!"

*On his way to the bathroom he had peed in his underwear just a little bit (not enough to constitute changing them). And when he told me this he said "I peed just a teeny-bit, not a big-bit"

"Guitar-a-lin"

One of the first instruments Mac could recognize was a violin. So when he learned about guitars he naturally started calling it a "guitar-a-lin". Which makes me smile every time he says it. We finally unwrapped it from when the movers wrapped it up for us to move from Portland to Montana, terrible that it has been that long (almost 4 years). Mac loves to play it.

Oak {5 months old}

  • she grabs her feet
  • will put her feet in her mouth
  • will grab at toys
  • will put toys in her mouth
  • her hands/fingers are always in her mouth
  • she is a big slobbery mess most of the time
  • she is all over her crib when she is trying to sleep, she is never in the same place as we put her or as she was when we checked on her last. she rolls from her side to her side
  • last week she rolled twice, from her back to her tummy for the first time
  • two days later she rolled once from tummy to her back for the first time
  • she can sit up pretty good, as for a few minutes at a time, if she isn't too tired, but gets better at it towards the end of the day if we have been working with her alot through out the day.
  • she loves her bottle and recognizes it. she gets excited and wiggly until she has it in her mouth
  • she stares at people she doesn't recognize, and refuses to give them a smile until she is around them a bit.
  • she goes to bed at 6:30 and sleep about 12 hours. although lately she has been waking up at 4 and either cooing or fussing, but she eventually goes back to sleep.
  • she naps really well, especially now that we got a fan for her room.
  • she drinks 8oz of formula about every 3 to 4 hours.
  • she actually doesn't think Mac is very funny, when he is trying to make her smile or laugh, she usually gives him a look like he is crazy. Hopefully with time she will start laughing at his crazy antics.
  • she is in mostly 12 month size clothing right now, and has a few things that are 9 to 12 month size.
  • she is very ticklish.
  • she still doesn't like being on her tummy much, but she will tolerate it for a little while.
  • her eyes are more brown now.
  • she is a great baby but she is starting to want to be held more. so i walk around with a baby on my hip alot...which i actually love.

Beautiful Weekend!!

I don't have any pictures from the weekend yet because I didn't take any with my own camera. But I wanted to write down our experience and some thoughts from the weekend while I  had a chance, and I wanted to show some pictures. These pictures I actually took two months ago to use for some invitations to send to family for her Sealing and blessing. I will take her 5 months pictures this week and take some more of her in dressed in white, with her sweater added and a different flower in her hair. And I want to try to get a few of Mac dressed in white with her, he looked so handsome.

This dress Oak is wearing is my blessing dress. And even though I was 7 lbs when I wore it, it fit my baby girl at nearly 20 lbs. We just couldn't button the back, hehe! What a dream come true for me (and my mom) that my baby girl got to wear this to be sealed to us in the Temple and for her blessing. Also, this dress is very special because my Aunt Glenda made this for me. She passed away 5 days after Oak was born. I hope some day Oak will be able to have a baby girl to wear it also.

We had the most amazing weekend, and I really did not want it to end. Last night when I went to bed, because I couldn't keep my eyes open any longer, I really did not want to go to sleep because it meant that the weekend was over. We had so many family and friends come and show their love and share in our special day. There were also many who were missed. My oldest sister Dana and my niece Paige flew in from Bakersfield. I haven't seen her in more than five years. I LOVED every second with her, it was so fun to be around her again. We also had some VERY dear friends, John and Amy, fly in just for the sealing and blessing. And it meant so much to us that they would take the time and effort to come. It was great to see them again and get to spend time with them. I also had another cousin who flew in from Idaho to be here for the sealing. And so many other friends and family who were there. I loved walking into the sealing room and seeing all of them.

Oh her smile kills me!
I spent the week stressing over how I thought Mac would act in the Temple. For those who have met my cute red head in person know how much energy he has and how goofy he can be. We spent the week preparing him for it and telling him what we were doing there and how he should act there. And let me tell you that kid proved me wrong up and down and I worried for NOTHING. He was more than perfect in the Temple!!! First off when you would ask him what we were going to the Temple for, he would say, "to make Oak forever!" Love that kid!

I was very pleased with how we were treated by the Temple workers this time around. The second we walked into the Temple and went to the recommend desk we were treated like the most special people on earth. (Completely opposite from when we took Mac a couple of years ago). When we dropped the kids off at the children's nursery Mac was totally fine with being there and they had a little doll house that he was immediately drawn to. He didn't even care that we had left. Oak is always happy baby, so I wasn't worried about her at all. The two women who took care of my babies were so wonderful and my kids LOVED them. We then left them there and went to do paperwork and get ready ourselves. We got ready so quickly that we were able to sit in the Celestial room for about 20 minutes. It was a great time to reflect on how we got there!

We then walked into the sealing room and as soon as we saw everyone, I started bawling, which I knew would happen. I think our Sealer might have been the same one we had for Mac's sealing. He was very sweet and kept on saying, "All will be well!" I can't even begin to describe my feelings of happiness and pure joy when they brought in my two babies. Mac walked in acting very shy and was pretty attached to the sister who had been watching him. He then saw me and told the sister he wanted to see his Mommy. And she looked at me and I nodded and he came calmly walking over to me and sat on my lap. Then it was time for us to be sealed to our beautiful baby girl, so Mac sat on my Mom's lap, who was sitting next to me.

As Hubs and I sat across from each other holding hands, they brought Oak up to us and placed her hand on ours. She looked at me then looked at Hubs and just stared and smiled at him. She didn't wiggle or cry. She was happy and content. She was beautiful! And at that moment, the power of the Priesthood sealed our baby girl to us FOREVER.

And our Mac didn't make a peep the whole time. He left easily with the sister that was taking care of him and with his head on her shoulder. I heard her tell him he could push the button for the elevator. It gave me great peace that he was being so well taken care of. We then got to hug every single person that came to support us, which brought more tears. We felt so loved!

We were able to go out to the Atrium still dressed in white and take some pictures with our beautiful children. Mac was a bit more excited and showing it. He was excited to see his buddy Rocky, and was running around with her chasing his cousin Paige. After pictures the lovely sisters took our kids to get them changed in to their dress clothes and we went and changed. Mac asked the sister if he could play some more down there and was excited about that. When we came back we were able to talk more with our family and friends as we waited for the kids again. After they came out we were able to go outside and take a few more pictures of us in front of the Temple.

We then go to go have lunch with some of our family and friends and visit more. Oak was passed around and loved and gushed on. I was able to drive down to our house with our friends John and Amy while Hubs drove home with our kids. It was so great to get to visit with them! They came down to stay at our house so they could attend Oak's blessing the next day. My sister Dana also came down to our house later that night. It was so nice to have our house full with family and friends that love us so much.

.
Sunday morning, in our Ward, Hubs was able to give Oak a Name and a Blessing. It was so beautiful and I am so grateful for a husband who is worthy to hold the Priesthood and bless our children. Hubs recorded it and I need to listen and type up the blessing.

After church we were able to have family over to for dinner to celebrate both Oak and Hubs's birthday. Hubs was so excited to be able to spend his birthday weekend having Oak sealed to us and to be able to give her a blessing. We are so very blessed in so many ways. I grateful every single day for my little family. My little family is truly a miracle in every sense! I am grateful for Heavenly Father's plan for us, and I am grateful that part of that plan was our children coming to us through the miracle and gift of adoption.

We love Oak's birthfamily so much! They are incredible! Her birthparent have made an incredible decision on behalf of Oak, they have sacrificed alot. Oak's birthgrandparents have been so supportive and loving of them. We are grateful that we get to have a relationship with them and that Oak will always know them. What a blessing it will be for her to have so many people to love her.

this man...

Is my husband, the father to my children, my best friend, my rock, my provider, my protector and my eternal companion.
He is turning 32!
When I think about him, I think about the very first day that I laid eyes on him on the steps of the Institute building. I KNEW, without a doubt, that I was going to marry him! I think about the TEN years that I have been with him and all that we have been through, the good, the VERY best, the bad and the really, really, REALLY bad. And I could not be more grateful to have gone though it all with him by my side. And I know that I love him more now than I did the day I married him, and I have NO doubt that he loves me and our children. I am so grateful for that day 32 years ago when he was born. The world is a better place because of him, it truly is!
I LOVE YOU Hubs!!!

BIRTHDAY FUN!

Playing catch up with Mac's birthday that was almost a month ago!

When Mac woke up on his birthday we told him he could have anything he wanted for breakfast. He chose cupcakes of course. So we put some candles in it and sang to him AGAIN!

Hubs had taken the day off and as we were deciding what fun thing to do for the day a family friend from church sent me a text saying that he wanted to stop by and give Mac a present. I was thinking that was awfully nice of him to leave work to bring Mac a present. Then my eye caught a fire truck driving by our house and I knew instantly what the surprise was. Our friend works for the fire department (part of why Mac likes him so much) and he had brought a fire truck to our house to give Mac an actual ride in it. Hubs got the car seat from our car and a fireman installed it and Hubs and him were able to take a ride down the road. Mac was in heaven!!!! Then when they got back M (our friend) showed him what was behind every door and in every compartment. It was the best surprise! And really how could we top that!

Mac and our friend M!

And although we totally couldn't top the firetruck we decided to take Mac to a movie in the theatre and get pop, popcorn and candy. My friend Angie was nice enough to watch Oak for us so that Mac could have us all to himself. We took Mac to see Tangled, and he seemed to really like it. He did really well the whole movie and it was nice because we were 3 of 6 people in the whole theatre. But boy was it expensive!

We also got a call from his birthmother. Mac was too busy playing to talk to her, but I talked to her for a long time and it was so refreshing and nice. We text back and forth alot but we haven't talked on the phone in a long time. Love that lady!

I really hope that Mac remembers his special day of turning three, because as his Mommy it was truly magical!
