Anniversary Coast trip...

Hubs ended up not working this last Saturday and it was also our 11th wedding anniversary. The weather was so beautiful and all I really wanted to do was go to the coast as a family. I didn't care about going out to dinner or anything else. So by noon we were packed and off to the coast for the day. We headed to the beach we usually go to, Heceta Head, but when we got there the beach was completely covered in rocks and we were wanting to walk up to the light house but they were working on it so we couldn't do that either. So we decided to head back towards Florence and we ended up at the North Jetty. It isn't my favorite place to go because you have to hike through alot of sand dunes to get to the beach and that is not ideal with kids and all the stuff that you have to carry to the beach. When we got out of the car, a friend of ours, and the husband also works with Hubs, walked up to us to say hi. It was crazy to see them there too, since I was just at her house for a play date the day before and neither of us knew the other was planning on going to the beach. So we ended up hanging out with them in the middle of the dunes instead of by the ocean since they had a baby and it was too windy to be on the beach. The kids had fun playing together and it was nice to have friends to talk to while there.

We had fun burying the kids.

surprisingly Oak spent alot of time sitting right next to daddy on the blanket instead of wandering around.

Oaks turn.

There was a big pool of water just over the dune from where we were camped out. And Mac being the water lover and dirt magnet that he is got in and couldn't help but get soaked from shoulders to toes. Silly kid! It was hard to watch, but also fun to see him enjoy himself.

Then in true Mac form, as soon as he came out of the water he had to do a sand angel. My friend said she could see why I brought a few extra sets of clothes for my kids after watching Mac.

Our friends have the cutest kids and they have a 2.5 year old who was just a bit smaller than Oak, but they played pretty good together and seemed to like each other.

I was so proud of Oak for trying to climb the dune. I thought she did pretty good.

There was SOME sand eating, but not as much as last summer. She actually just licked her hands a few times when she got sand on them and didn't quite know what to do with her hands covered so she would try to lick it off. .

It was a fun day! But when I asked Mac if he had fun, he told me that it was the worst day of his life and I ruined his trip. He is going through a little phase of hating me because I discipline him, and that along with typical Mac drama equals alot of moaning, groaning, whining and crying. I am thinking it will get a bit better with Daddy being home more now that tax season is over.

Next time I want to take my DSLR. I miss the great pictures it takes for times like these. These pictures don't seem all that interesting to look at. But I do have to say that I was impressed with the beach setting on my point-n-shoot. I didn't edit any of these, mostly out of laziness, but thought the light was pretty good for the beach. Lighting is always tricky at the beach!

Looks like fun stuff. Sure wish we had been the couple of friends you happened to meet there. Love you Bren!

Beach setting?!! I will have to look at my camera for that. The lighting was not great at all our last trip!
