Mother's Day, school, evening walks, boys camp & girls night...

We didn't do much for Mother's day since Hubs did most of the traditional stuff the day before. But we did call grandma's to wish them a happy day.

We also made about 90 snickerdoodles and took them to various families in our ward.

We watched a video on Queen Esther in the morning and then Oak decided she wasn't Queen Elsa anymore but she wanted to be Queen Esther. It was adorable!

I promise this isn't as bad as it looks. It was just some Sunday night shenanigans. Mac was having daddy tie him up so he could try to get out. It was just a kids scarf and Mac was actually quite good at getting out of it. He would be our with in 10 seconds or so. The kids were laughing so hard.

Monday morning we worked on making sugar crystals. Mac has been begging for a couple of weeks to do this. We have deemed Monday to be "science day". We also go in a bit of color mixing to see what colors we could make.

Here is the final product.

We are almost all finished with this book and I have reserved the next book in the series. This has been our lunch time read and the kids love it. It basically teaches math through a story that it is telling.

I always think it is so adorable when he sits down to look at a book.

I saw this marble track on pinterest and thought we would try it out. It didn't work very well and it didn't hold their attention very long because the neighbor kids ended up coming outside and it distracted them. We will try again this week and do it inside.

Lately they have been having a super hard time getting along and I caught a moment where they actually WERE!

I thought I was going crazy when I realize I couldn't find this pile of clothes that Oak was supposed to put away in her drawer. I couldn't figure out where they had gone and Oak swore she put them away. Then a few days later I found them behind her bedroom door. silly girl!

Oak did this puzzle all by herself. Oak totally looks like a ragamuffin. And I have to say that she does most of the time. If I do her hair she takes it out and re does it, if I get her in cute clothes for the day she at some point changes into either comfy clothes or a dress. I just have kindof given up the fight. Good thing she is even cute when she looks like a ragamuffin.

This week we finally were able to take some evening walks on the bike path behind our house.

This is how Hubs and I have been spending our evening after the kids are in bed. Watching Doc Martin and snuggling on the couch.

We have deemed wednesday "art day" and so we painted outside. We invited the cute little neighbor girls to come and paint with us.

Also on wednesday mac went back to the dentist to get a sealant on his permanent molar. He did such a great job.

We went to the park one night before daddy got home.

We had a Nacho picnic. I totally remember doing this as a kid.

ANother evening walk. She is adorable!

Mac improved so much this week in swim lessons. He swam almost the entire width of the pool by himself. It was awesome. I also got both kids signed up for the next session.

Mac was excited all week about getting to go to the Father Son campout. This was his list of things to do there. "-Roast marshmallows - look for spiders - go to bed! - do you want to play tag? - eat lunch - eat dinner - eat breakfast" Adorable!

Mac and Oak got Mac all packed for the campout and I went through it just to double check and found he had packed 7 pairs of socks. haha, love it!

For Friday fun day we went to Petco and looked at the fish and animals. The kids were so excited!

While boys were at "boys camp" (as mac calls it) Oak and I went out to eat dinner at Applebee's.

Then my friend Camille had planned a fun night with fruit pizza, movie and popcorn. We just stayed late but another family stayed the night.

The next morning we went back to Camille's to eat breakfast then headed out to get some flowers to plant at an elderly couple's house who is in our ward as a service project.

Got these pics from Hubs. They tried to find a place to fish on the way home but failed. Hubs said Mac was the most well behaved boy there and that they had a really great time. I was so glad to hear that.

Aren't they cute?!

When Hubs got home and unpacked he went straight to the couch and slept for like three hours. He must have been tired, poor guy! Love him!

homeschool, cool missionaries, daddy out of town and mothers day...

I keep saying this but we haven't done a whole lot of homeschool. This week I thought I would step it up with a more relaxed style of homeschool. I tried to add some learning into a lot of the activities we did. And I actually really enjoy this, and works really great for my kindergartner and preschooler.

Mac made some "cars" with these gears. He made a few different kinds and tried them on hard floors and on the carpet and talked about friction a bit.

This was what we were playing with .

The kids also, all on their own, made some patterns. We also did some math and counting. The kids loved it.

Oak super cute in piggy braids.

So we went to the grocery store and when we got out of the car there were two elders in the car next to us and we said hi to them. Then on our way into the store we saw two more walking towards the same car and we said hi to them also. When we got back to the car after shopping these CTR rings were wrapped around the door handle of our van. The kids love them. They are super cute rubbery, flexible rings and perfect for little kids.

The kids had made a huge mess of the van so I made them clean it out and vacuum it out.

The kids grabbed a huge pile of books for daddy to read to them.

We got this clock/time book from the library. Mac has been interested in learning time lately. He found this clock in our stuff when we moved and has been playing with it and setting the time and telling me what time it is. (more "homeschool")

The kids were all snuggled under a blanket when we were catching up on our Granite Flats show.

My two ginger snaps!

So daddy had to go out of town for one night which ended up being two nights. But I was planning on taking the kids out to breakfast for dinner and Mac lost that privilege so we couldn't go. I was bummed because I love breakfast for dinner and also I didn't want to make dinner since daddy was gone. So I had the bright idea to take the kids to the store and let them pick out their own dinner. It could be what ever they wanted! They of course both picked out cereal since I RARELY buy cereal and if I do I buy the non sugary stuff like cheerios or rice crispies. Can you tell they were excited?! We might have to make this a tradition when daddy is out of town.

Bath time that night was pretty silly as they each made silly sounds in the tub when it was their turn and had each other giggling so loudly.

Then we decided to race cars down the stairs. The kids loved this and it was really fun! We ended up making a ramp at the bottom of the track and it was fun watching them fly off and hit the wall under the window.

Chutes and ladders is not one of my favorite games. It is boring and long and just when you get to the top you have to start over and that is frustrating. This game happened to be a LONG one and when I finally won, Mac said, "Oh good! I was getting tired of playing."

My kids seemed to be accident prone while daddy was gone. One night Oak jumped off the couch, landed on her feet but them fell backward to her bum and her tongue must of been sticking out and she bit it all the way across. It was bleeding pretty back and at first I thought I was going to have to take her to the urgent care but the bleeding stopped after a minute and Mac had her laughing and then it didn't look so bad. I was surprised when the next morning she it didn't hurt.
The next day Mac cut the corner around the wing back chair and hit his temple pretty hard on the corner of the chair. He had a huge goose egg and now has a little scab.
The next night we were sitting on my bed reading books and Oak was being wiggly and she fell off the bed, I went to catch her and instead scratched her arm with my nail and it was bad enough that it was bleeding pretty good.

We found a park we hadn't been to yet.

This is what tacos looks like for Oak. She doesn't like tortillas that much. She actually ended up eating three helpings just like this. And Mac who loves tacos had like four tacos plus just some taco meet and salad after that. I had to cut them off instead of them telling me they were done. Tuesday Taco night is a dinner success in our house.

Mac jumping off the dive board.

And playing in the lockers after lessons.

We went and took daddy lunch at work since he had just gotten home from his trip that morning.

Hubs and I sat on the couch and it didn't take long for the kids to join us.

After spending the entire week unpacking and not going many places I took the kids to the children's museum since the weather wasn't great. There would have to definitely be two of me if I had two of either of my kids.

Oak helping Mac reach the pedals.

Saturday morning hubs let me sleep in and I came down to him making a pancake breakfast. He decided it was better to do this on Saturday morning instead of Sunday since we have 9 am church. It was wonderful.

In the afternoon we headed to the Temple and hour away. It was our ward temple trip. A couple from our ward watched all the kids at the stake center that is in the same parking lot. And then after the session we had a bake potato pot luck at the pavillion on the property. It was so much fun and a memory I hope my kids always remember. Also it snowed hard all the way to the temple and by the time we got there it was beautiful and sunny. And stayed that way!

Eating dinner in the grass with the Temple right behind them.

The drive home was absolutely beautiful!

It was a good week!

Moving, swim lessons, and a new view...

I woke up sick with a terrible soar throat and generally not feeling good. It also happened to be moving day! When the kids found out I was sick they decided on their own to make me breakfast: homemade oatmeal and carrots. They wanted it to be healthy to make me feel better. It was so stinking cute and sweet.

Mac started up swim lessons again. The pool is indoors and I am excited to be able to do swim lessons all year round. I didn't put Oak in because I thought she would have a hard time with it, but I plan on putting her in the next session.

Mac has lost a little bit of skill since last summer. I was able to swim by himself a few feet last summer and now he can't do that at all and he has lost some confidence. Last summer you couldn't keep his head out of the water and this time he hasn't wanted to put his head under as much. He has jumped off the diving board a few times.

Oak built this Temple during quiet time. Cute!

Oak is super obsessed with doing her hair. I can do her hair and she will take it own not long after and do it herself. You rarely see her without a hair band and she is constantly putting ponytails in her own hair.

I did a hard thing and gave to a great family (with a big brother and little sister) Mac and Oak's old clothes. It was a really hard thing for me to do. I wanted to cry MANY times but kept it back.

Oak wearing a princess dress drawing Elsa's ice castle.

I really loved her drawing and her snowflakes. She is really a great artist for being just three.

The large dirt pile across the street from our house. It was after dinner and right before bath time so I let them get as dirty as they wanted.

We started back up with green smoothies. My kids love them as long as they aren't too sweet.

The view from our back door now. I am in love with it. It is the same hills that turned golden at the apartment we just moved from.

We didn't have the internet at our new place yet so I had to go back over to our apartment to get my lesson stuff saved to our computer so I could print it out.

I don't remember what we were watching but Oak rarely sits still. She is constantly moving and doing something. She is the definition of the word "busy". But she sat so still while snuggling with daddy.

I read a book to Mac that we got from the library about haunted caves and it intrigued him so much that we sat and had a long conversation together for about 30 minutes. He talked and talked and then would stop and think a minute then talk and talk some more. He had a million questions and thoughts and ideas. And it was just one of those moments I wanted to freeze him like that forever.
