Week 16

Mac to Oak: "Let's have a fact battle!"

Waving to Grandma as she goes by on the train. She loves it when we do this.

Mac reading to us from his new book.

Mac and daddy worked hard on Mac's Pinewood Derby car.

His car won every single heat it raced and overall in his pack. Unfortunately we were out of town for the district race. It would have been fun to see how well his car did.

Our annual post tax season trip! We started it off with a visit to Hubs Grandparents. His parents also happened to visiting so we got a four generation photo.

Next up the lake house! Fishing was first on the list.

Unfortunately Oak woke up in the night not feeling well and ended up throwing up.

The next afternoon she was feeling a bit better and wanted to go outside with the fresh air. It really perked her up.

Since Oak was sick we didn't do what we had originally planned so daddy and Mac went to town and came back with remote control boat. It was a lot of fun.

Mac got to show how responsible he could be with a pocket knife.

Building a fire to roast marshmallows.

Smores

Late afternoon Oak fell asleep (which she never does unless she is sick) and woke up with a fever.

I gave her some ibuprofen and she perked back up.

The next day Oak was completely recovered thankfully and we were able to resume the fun. We stopped first at Shore Acres. The weather was PERFECT.

Then to our favorite beach Sunset Bay. Oh man the weather was perfect at 70 degrees and no wind.

We loved exploring the tide pools.

What's great about Sunset Bay is that the waves aren't very big so the kids can actually play in the water. But boy was the water cold and the kids sure didn't care.

A lady at the beach told us about this the Marine Life Center in Charleston. It was a great little place for the kids to explore.

Then we dropped the kids off at my in-laws and Hubs and I headed back to a little cottage at the beach to celebrate our 16th anniversary. We literally did absolutely nothing (it rained the whole weekend) and it was fabulous.
