little ballerina...
I am thinking this little girl needs to be in a dance class!
Grandma bought her a leotard and some ballerina slippers and she is in heaven. I was even surprised to see that she knew how to stand like a ballerina.
Too much cute to handle!!
two big girls...
I finally decided to be a big girl and let my baby girl be a big girl too. Oak has been very ready for us to make her crib into a big girl bed. I however, have not been ready. But last Saturday I all of a sudden decided I wanted to do it and when I told Oak she was very excited. She played right next to me as I tried to figure out how to get the railing off. And destroyed her room in the process, my little tornado. Once the side was off she could hardly contain herself (either could big brother).
She did much better with it than I could have anticipated. She only fell out with a thud once. Although she didn't sleep very soundly and she kindof had a grumpy week because she wasn't getting enough sleep. But I think she is good now. She also knows to not get out until we come and get her. Which was my biggest fear in the transition.
I also saw the idea on Pinterest to put a pool noodle under the sheet to help them not fall out. Oak hates having it on her bed, so she takes it out usually and we put it back in after she falls asleep. But really I don't think she needs it much any more. Our biggest problem so far has been her dropping her bear and she knows she can't get out of her bed so she yells for us to come and get it for her.

Oak asked to paint one day while Mac was at Preschool. She loved it and painted for at least an hour working on her painting.
She wiped her eye and had a cute little green streak on her face.
She ended up painting even more lines after I took this and pretty much filled the whole page with them. She kept to these colors only adding some purple later.
I really love it and want to frame it.

Friday Joy
1. Giggling with Mac while we lay in my bed this morning.
2. Painting Oak's toe nails at 7am just because she wanted to. She requested one foot pink and one foot purple.
3. That it is 8am and my kids are having too much fun playing that they have forgotten to beg me to feed them NOW.
4. Looking forward to some friends coming over for a play date that we haven't seen in over a year.
5. That it is Friday and we have plans for homemade pizza and a movie to watch as a family tonight.

January in pictures!
January seemed like a long month, but at the same time I feel like February snuck up on us.
We have had lots of fun this month, but have been mostly home bound since most of the month it was foggy and freezing weather.
Oak loves her baby dolls. This one is her favorite and I thought it was so cute how she was reading to her.
Play-doh is the big thing to do in our house right now. I kind of love it too. It keeps the kids occupied FOREVER. The mess that is made is so worth it!
Lately the kids want to be wrapped up in their blankets. It is pretty cute.
We had a baby shower for my sister-in-law. We can't wait for baby C to get here! Totally hoping he is born with red hair, it is pretty likely, so I am anxious to see what he looks like.
Oak went to her first girls only birthday party for our cute friend & neighbor who turned two. Oak got all dressed up since it was a princess tea party.
Mac is almost grown out of naps, but I think he is going through a growth spurt and has actually been needing them lately.
Grandma & Grandpa stayed with us for a couple of days and Oak was giving her a massage before bed.
Oak had to wear her tu-tu to bed one night. Cuteness overload!
One night we were trying to waste a bit of time before bed so we had a nerf gun war. It was pretty fun!
For a couple of weeks Oak and Mac were getting along so well and playing together really great! They were actually being friends and finding things to play together with out much refereeing from mom and dad.
One night we decided to have homemade Pazookies. Which is just a hot cookie with ice cream on top. They sure were a hit with the kids. Love those faces.
And of course Oak ended up being a complete mess.
Oak had made a whole bunch of "snakes"
We had gone to the Science Factory and Mac had made a volcano and learned about volcanoes while we were there. So we spent the week erupting his volcano at least once a day.
Grandma had brought some strawberries and both the kids stood at the sink and ate the entire box of them. They love their fruit!

It get's better with age...
I was able to do a photo shoot with my parents yesterday to commemorate their fifty years of marriage. With having my new camera and my new lens that I have been needing, I was actually excited! It has been a long time since I have been this excited to take pictures, because my old camera just wasn't producing photo quality pictures. And I was a bit embarrassed by that.
I can't stop looking at the clarity of these photos...thanks you Hubs for gifting me my new camera and lens.
And because it has been so long since I have done regular photo shoots I feel like I am a bit rusty on taking good pictures and I am still learning how to use my new camera.
I also wanted to find some fun things to do for their photos and found a few cute ideas on the internet. Loved how they turned out. And my parents are just the cutest!
